Vanilla Protein & Banana Pancakes

I made these super yummy pancakes after the gym this morning for breakfast :) The only problem was that I didn't have any 'healthy' alternatives for the flour, so I had to use what I had at home; white flour. No big deal though! Just not as healthy as they could be :)

- R E C I P E -

1/2 cup plain flour
1/2 cup self raising flour
1 scoop vanilla flavoured protein powder
1 mashed banana
Enough milk to achieve desired consistency (use less milk for fluffier pancakes, use more milk for thinner pancakes)

Blend all the ingredients together in a bowl, then cook as normal pancakes :)

Serve with your choice of condiments, I chose frozen raspberries and maple syrup (naughty hehe)

Much love xx

Fresh!

Okay, so it has taken me literally hours! but I have finally given my blog a fresh new look! It's not super different, and it's not exactly how I want it to look, but I am super happy with it for now :) It may not look like it, but the change has taken a lot of tweaking of the html codes, inserting, locating, changing, more codes… lalalala. Also, 'Blush and Crush' is the new name for my blog. I figured it was catchy and cute, and it reflects the topics I cover in my blog; from makeup to smoothies I guess! It will probably change again at some point haha, but it's staying for now cause I think it works :)

Something else that is 'fresh' and 'new' is that work have given me this coming weekend off! 4pm tomorrow marks the start of the weekend for me weeeeew. Super keen to just hang out, enjoy the beautiful Australian Summer, go to Gold Class with my boy, and there's a couple other little adventures I would like to do before the weekend is over :) Hint: I need more photos of this beautiful weather that we have been having lately! ;)

Much love xx

My Summer Foods!

Going through my camera roll on my phone, I've seen just how delicious my Sunmer diet has been! These are just some photos that I thought I'd share... Health and fitness is a major part of my life, every single day. Not a day goes by where I do not nourish and give my body what it deserves! It is very important to me that I maintain a healthy and active lifestyle, which includes going to the gym about 5-6 days a week and eating the colours of the rainbow from good whole foods :) I love making my own juices and smoothies, fruit platters, salads, and raw vegetables ahhhh ❤. Admittedly, I am not the biggest fan of vegetables, but give me raw carrots/celery/green beans/lettuce/snowpeas/frozen peas/etc. and I'll happily munch on them!
Obviously there are so many things to take into consideration with your own individual diet and needs. And when I say 'diet' I mean what we eat regularly on a day-to-day basis. My focus is on keeping lean and healthy, so I eat hardly any 'junk' food at all. My family is pretty healthy when it comes to eating aswell, which makes it super easy for me! And something that I really want to mention is that eating 'clean' and healthy certainly does not mean bland and boring! There are so many wonderful delicious and nutritious meals out there just waiting to jump into your belly!
As this blog grows, I would love for some feedback on what the best things for me to post are! :) I'd love to develop a strong reader base, that would be fantastic :) But for now, whoever you may be reading this, I hope you have a super wonderful day or night, and that hopefully you'll com3 back here for more tomorrow ♥

Tuesday Things

Hello Again! Today my post is about a few different products that I used today/ loving lately :) These products cover moisturiser, lip balm, hand sanitizer and hair care. I am a sucker for beauty products, and  I always find myself wanting more and more! But I have to stop myself because I literally have baskets of products that I barely get around to using! However, I have made it my mission to go through most if not all of the products that I have and review them as best as I can, as descriptive as I can :) And in a lot of cases, I will compare products that I have to each other, like in this post. I hope you enjoy !

'Radox' Hand Sanitizer and 'Kleenz' Hand Sanitizer
Here are the two hand sanitisers that I currently own. I bought both of these for about $3.00 each from The Reject Shop, a budget store here in Australia. The Radox one smells so fresh, and the hydrating moisture beads are a lovely touch. This is a convenient size to keep in my handbag, and the flip cap lid means that it is not going to leak everywhere! It dries very well and leaves my hands smelling wonderful. The Kleenz brand is a larger size with a pump lid, so I keep that in my room on my dresser. This one also has the added moisture beads, and I find that it leaves my hands slightly softer, and this could be because of the aloe vera. This one does not smell as nice as the Radox one, but in no way does it smell bad. I am quite happy with both of these products, they seem to do their job well, and they last for ages!

Nutrimetics Lip Treatment 'Soin Des Levres'
I am absolutely in love with Nutrimetics and especially this lip balm! I haven't purchased Nutrimetics products in a few years, but I was given some for this Christmas just past, and this was one of them. It is absolutely wonderful. It is a pink stick that goes on clear. It is such a soothing and moisturising lip balm! The moisture lasts for a good length of time too. I use this nearly every single day. It is the perfect lip balm for my lips as they easily become dry. Not to mention the divine smell - if I had to describe it, I would probably say it smells like an apricot candle… if that makes sense! I 100% recommend this product for any lips. (Even my boyfriend sneaks a use!)

V05 hot oil 'give me moisture' hair treatment
I received this cute little pack as a gift the Christmas before last I believe, and only just got around to using it today! This pack contains four treatments. When I applied it to my hair in the shower, it instantly made it feel so soft and silky, I could already feel it working. I think next time I will heat it up a little more before using it though, as it didn't seem very hot for a 'hot oil' treatment. Once I dried my hair though, I wasn't really sure if this product had done anything or not to improve the condition of my hair… But I will definitely be using the other three treatment bottles over the next three weeks to see if prolonged use makes a difference :)

Vaseline Dry Skin Moisturiser
I have an immense amount of love for moisturisers as I am sure that you will eventually learn! This has got to be one of the best ones that I have ever used. I don't have incredibly dry skin, but it's dry enough to gain benefits from using a moisturiser like this. The smell is lovely, I really can't think of how to describe it though! The application is super smooth, not heavy or dragging on the skin. It is somewhat thinner in consistency and therefore glides over the skin with ease, while at the same time providing an intense moisturising. I love the way this leaves my skin feeling, so soft and supple. Another product I highly recommend!

Sugar Baby Sorbet Lip Balm in Cotton Candy
Last but not least is this super cute lip balm! Again I was given this as a gift for Christmas last year by one of my best friends. OMG it smells like girly heaven! Smells of lollies and cotton candy and sweet and delicious! Again, this is a pink lip balm that goes on clear. This one is more 'sticky' in consistency than the Nutrimetics lip balm. However, it also leaves my lips feeling lovely. And did I mention the amazing scent??!!

Australia Day

Had a pretty amazing Australia Day with some of my closest mates and my wonderful boy, Thomas, today :) So many laughs and giggles, good food and plenty of drinks!
It's so amazing to have such super friends who always provide a good time and a good laugh :) Even though thw weather wasn't very typical Australia weather, we still had a ball, hanging out by the pool. Complimented by listening to Triple J's Hottest 100 Countdown! Pretty disappointed with the No.1 but oh well :)
Happy Australia Day!

Priceline Purchases

While at my babysitting job, I was online doing some product searching on the Priceline website, mainly for anything that caught my interest! I ended up visiting a store tonight, and bought some things off a list that I had created :) The only problem was I couldn't find my Sister Club card at the checkout! Noo :(

This is the Loreal True Match Foundation in W4 Golden Natural.
I have wanted this for AGES! And now I finally have it! It was on sale at Priceline for $25.45. I fake tan my skin a lot these days (I'm pretty big on sun safety and anti ageing) which means that I needed a foundation of a more yellow base tone rather than a pink tone. This is perfect :) The consistency is so light and flowy, if that makes sense! I can already tell that this will be super easy to blend with, and it looks like the perfect base for the shade of my new bronzer that I bought a couple days ago: Hoola by Benefit!

I have taken quite good care of my teeth for many years, including flossing regularly and mouthwash when available to me. I have never had braces, and I believe that my teeth are in pretty good shape condition considering that fact! However, I would love to get braces one day, or invisalign. But for now, I have bought this little beauty that my Mum uses and loves: White Glo. And so far, I love it too! The packaging was super cute, and the toothpaste even came with a lovely pink toothbrush! I've taken photos, so we shall see what the difference is in a week or two :) I might share the photos… haven't decided yet! hehe.

The last product I bought was the Sun In hair lightening spray. I recently had my hair done in belayage, and I've decided that I want my blonde bits to be lighter than what they are, so I'm hoping that this does the trick! The possible downside is that when I was looking for the information on whether or not it was safe for coloured/bleached hair, I found this on the box, "Sun In is not recommended for very dark brown, black or grey hair." So I thought, okay good, I can use it on my hair no problems. It wasn't until I went to do a test patch that I found another part of the box which reads, "Sun In is not recommended for colour treated, recently permed or grey hair."……are you kidding me? Why do they have to separate parts on the box which say different things for what the product should be used for!? -_- Oh well, I continued with the test patch, and my hair seemed fine, so I will be doing all the blonde tomorrow hopefully.

I quite liked writing this kind of post, so you can expect to see more of these coming your way! Until then, xoxo Jamiela.

Positivity

I am a big believer in positivity and positive thinking. The first half of 2013 was not the best for me. I was struggling to like the degree I was doing, struggling with my eating, energy and fitness. I had body image issues. I'd drifted apart from friends… I was hardly happy. But then one day, not long before my eighteenth birthday I think (May 2013), I decided that I was sick of being unhappy, sick of being negative! I changed my mind and my attitude, just like that! And OH MY GOSH the difference it made! I was such a happy girl, and still am today, after that moment. I became more organised, started exercising regularly, ditched the old bad food habits, made more plans to see people, and just smiled a lot more :) And it has been pretty much wonderful since then :) Yes I've had some struggles along the way, made big changes in my life, and more, but I am such a positive and happy person today, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Surrounding yourself with people who love and believe in you is a MAJOR contributor to finding happiness. I'm not saying to rely on them to make you happy, but having their love and support is amazing :) I remember I posted about my positive change of attitude on Instagram that night, and the next morning, I received a beautiful text from my boyfriend, Tom, about how happy and excited he was for me, and that he was willing to help me along in anyway that he can :) (the big cootie!).

Since that change though, I have noticed dramatic differences, and I am so thankful for whatever persuaded me to change. I am the healthiest and fittest that I have ever been! My relationships are strong. I am excited about every day and the opportunities that I have. It is a wonderful life, and I sure as hell am going to live it to the fullest potential. :)

Welcome!

Boo! So you've found my blog :)

I haven't exactly decided on a specific theme or direction that I want this blog to go yet… I have started up a number of blogs in the past, but have forgotten about them or got severe cases of writer's block… So I stopped! But no more! I always find these days that I have a lot to say or express or things I want to share, and I believe that a blog is the best medium for that.

So here you will find many things about me, my life, what I do, what I love, food, health, books, purchases, uni, reflections… so many things that I plan to blog about! A few little facts about my life that will probably give you an indication of the kind of posts that you will find here… I am an eighteen year old Australian girl living in Sydney, and have for all my life so fa
r. I am studying a Bachelor of Education (Primary) at University. I am ridiculously into health and fitness, and can be found at the gym about 6 days a week… I have a big and somewhat complicated but totally loving family. I have a super duper amazing boyfriend, Tom, and we've been together for three and a half years now. I have two jobs, one as a baby sitter and the other at KFC in a mini management position but I desperately want to leave there, I'm over it! I also love makeup and beauty/ skin/ body care/ products etc. All that lovely stuff, so you can expect to find reviews, favourite products, look ideas and the alike. Same with fashion really, you'll find a few posts on that too.

Right now I am at my babysitting job, and these kids are so well behaved it's ridiculous! Probably giving me an incredibly false idea of what life will be like as a Teacher! hehe. But I do have four brothers and two sisters, so don't get me wrong; I am around lots of different types of kids all the time, some not so lovely at times!

Anyway, enough for the introductory post. I'm Jamiela, I'm 19 in May, I love life, and it loves me back ♥
